My Journey
This body of work was a process for me to come into my body and claim the sacredness of my body. I started from a place of being very shut down, feeling much shame around my body which led to me not being connected to the wisdom that is held in my body.
I never set out as a painter to paint a bunch of vulvas, yet this is exactly what happened! As I opened to this process of saying yes, being guided by pleasure and allowing myself to be my full unapologetic self, I found that many paintings of pussies flowed from my being.
During this time period, I had a moment in meditation where I could feel a full felt sense of what it was like to be in a body that was held as sacred, so sacred that the violations that are so common place in this time would not have happened, ever. We have been away from this sacredness for so long, thousands of years and I believe it is what we are moving towards, knowing the whole sacredness of our bodies, knowing the wisdom and power that lives in our wombs, in our pussies.
